The Mobile World Congress 2011 took place between the 14th and the 17th February and as anticipated this was another show stopping exhibition of new and coming soon mobile phones, Smartphone's, operating systems, applications and mobile technology. Looking back on the event and my previous article of prediction for new mobile phones at the MWC, let's have a look what phones were the best of the best at the MWC.
In my previous article I made a few prediction of what I excepted mobile phone manufactures to be showcasing at the event and a few have come true, but as always there were a few surprises along the way. The Apps Planet was an Apps focused exhibition allowing developers and network providers to show their newly designed and forthcoming apps, this was a highly popular area of the event, but let's get on to the handsets which were present. In my prediction I thought Nokia would be showcasing a new handset but unfortunately nothing exciting from team Nokia.
The Samsung stand however was busy to approach as they were revealing some amazing handsets which include the Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II which is a powerful Smartphone, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 a beautifully designed tablet and the Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 which is a fashionable member of the Galaxy range. I predicted the Galaxy I9100 S 2 maybe at the show and it is a truly magnificent Smartphone with a wide assortment of features on board, this was definitely the main star of the Samsung stand. However my prediction for the Galaxy Ace, Mini and Suit may still be on their way but they were not present at the show.
Sony Ericsson came true to form and wowed all the visitors with the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play Smartphone, which is a high quality Sony gaming phone complete with the most amazing gaming controls which resemble a game console form. Yes I did predict this gaming phone would be the main attraction but unfortunately there was no sign of any XPERIA X range phones as I had anticipated, although Sony Ericsson did have a two XPERIA Smartphone's which are highly fashionable and coming our way soon, which include the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pro and the desirable Sony Ericsson XPERIA Neo.
BlackBerry were at the Mobile World Congress 2011 with five impressive new Smartphone's and nobody could have seen these stunning Smartphone's coming. I predicted a possible announcement for an updated version of the Storm2 Smartphone and a new addition to the Curve family, but how wrong I was. Instead BlackBerry arrived with five Smartphone known as the HTC Salsa, the HTC ChaCha, the HTC Incredible S, the HTC Desire S and the HTC Wildfire S. The dancing names ChaCha and Salsa could never have been predicted but these are attractive, fashionable and feature filled Smartphone with dedicated Facebook keys. The Desire S and Wildfire S are perfect successors to the already popular and reputable Desire and Wildfire Smartphone's. My prediction for a HTC Bee or Paradise handset did not come true, but I can live with that as the HTC Incredible S is a superior Smartphone which caused quite a stir with mobile phone enthusiast.
Two manufactures that I did not predict handset for included Motorola and LG. Motorola we present and revealed two new Smartphone's known as the Motorola Atrix and the Motorola PRO which surprised me as Motorola were so busy at the recent CES event revealing new handsets. These Smartphone's were welcomed with much enthusiasm and gained much interest. LG really did steal the show in my opinion as they provided three new devices which would appeal to differing mobile phone users. There was the LG Optimus 3D P920 which is a Smartphone complete with 3D viewing capabilities, the LG Optimus Black which a stunning Smartphone aimed at the mid range mobile phone market with an impressive selection of capabilities, and the LG Stand was displaying a new tablet which is known as the LG Optimus Tab.
In my opinion these handset were the best of the best mobile phones at the MWC 2011 and if I had to name my top three it would have to be the LG Optimus 3D P920 for its 3D touch screen capabilities, followed on closely by the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play and theHTC Incredible S. That's it until next year for the MWC event and my predictions.
